History

Temple Emanuel has been serving and representing the Jewish community of Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, York, and Mecklenburg counties for almost 100 years.  Founded as the Hebrew Congregation of Gastonia 1913, our synagogue was built in 1929.  We are a vibrant and diverse congregation, meeting the spiritual and education needs of Jews and their families – and those interested in Judaism.

Religous and Hebrew School

Temple Emanuel Religious School is dedicated to providing Jewish children a quality education that will prepare them for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, and encourage a joyous attitude towards Judaism that will be the framework of a strong Jewish identity.

The Temple Emanuel Religious School offers programs for children between the ages of five and fifteen.  The programs at Temple Emanuel include Torah study, Jewish history, Jewish ethics, Hebrew, holidays, and Jewish culture.  After Bar and Bat Mitzvah we offer a two year confirmation program.  The Temple has a scholarship fund available for financial assistance. No Jewish child will be denied an education for lack of funds.

Harris Teeter’s Together In Education program is a fund raising program for schools. When you purchase select Harris Teeter Brand products using your VIC card, Harris Teeter contributes a percentage of those purchase dollars to our
school!   Please link your VIC card today and help Temple Emanuel Religious School earn needed dollars.
